Mowing Hand / Brush Cutter

  • $34.91 per hour casual rate + Super
  • Casual (Support in the absence of a Team Member)
  • Roster is 38 hours per week, Monday - Friday (6:30am-3:00pm)
  • Immediate start for the successful candidate
  • Location: Bellfield

The Role

Your primary purpose in this position is under the direction of the Parks Maintenance Coordinator assist in the maintenance of the City’s parks and streetscapes.

Key Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Operate Out Front Mower and associated equipment as required on various tasks and projects, within the mowing crew.
  • Undertake basic horticultural maintenance not requiring any advanced botanical knowledge. Examples include cultivation, watering, pruning (ground level street and parks), weeding, mulching, fertilising, mowing, spraying, planting, chipper operation, chainsaw operation and hedge trimming.
  • Report any unsafe or abnormal occurrences within council’s streets parks and reserves.
  • To maintain an accurate log book, daily work diary and time sheet.
  • Collect litter in Parks to Standard
  • To meet all mowing targets and work in a safe manner in accordance with OH&S practices.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all works are undertaken in a safe manner and are not detrimental to the health and safety of fellow employees and the community.

To be considered for this role:

  • Must have experience to operate an Out-Front Mower.
  • Experience in operating light plant including brush cutters and blowers.
  • Licence and competencies to:

    o Medium rigid truck licence
  • National police check issued within the last 6 months
  • Ability to commit to rosters with a proven track record of good attendance and punctuality.
