Waste Driver - Solo Operator

  • $37 per hour casual rate + Super
  • Casual
  • Roster is 38 hours per week, Monday - Friday (5:15am-1:30pm)
  • Immediate start for the successful candidate
  • Location: Ivanhoe

The Opportunity

Waste Driver is responsible in the Collection of household garbage/recycling/organics, commercial, parks waste, dump rubbish and hard waste.

The Role

The duties include but are not limited to:

  • The Collection of household garbage/recycling/organics, commercial waste, parks waste and bundle branch collection.
  • Garbage/recycling/organics clearance from mobile garbage bins put out for emptying by residents.
  • Reducing the impact of collection activities on the environment by ensuring that all waste spilt while collecting is recovered and oil or fuel spills are contained.
  • To assist with the repairs of Mobile Garbage Bins when required.
  • To carry out regular routine maintenance to truck.
  • To assist with any task undertaken by the Waste Management unit as directed by Supervisor.
  • Adhere to all safe working procedures in accordance with instructions.
  • Adhere to Council’s OH&S and risk policies.
  • Take reasonable care of themselves and others who may be affected by their actions.
  • Assist council to maintain and improve its services by performing all work in accordance with procedures set out in Best Value Plus and participating in audits as required.
  • To perform tasks that are undertaken by the Waste Management unit as required.



To be considered for this role you should have:

  • Heavy Rigid (HR) licence
  • Proven experience to operate a side loader and rear loader.

As this role may lead to full time you will be required to provide a recent National Police Check (not older than 6 months) and agree to a full pre-employment medical including drug & alcohol screening.
