Arborist

• Hourly Rate: Up to $40.68 per hour casual rate
• Location: Merri Bek, VIC
• Hours: Monday – Friday (7:15am – 3:45pm)
• Employment Type: Ongoing casual
• Immediate start for the successful candidate

About the role:

We are looking for an experienced Arborist to oversee both reactive and proactive Tree Maintenance programs, which include managing street trees, park trees, bushland trees, and addressing reactive tree works.


Key responsibilities:

• Sharing of technical knowledge with team members to ensure skills within the section are developed and enhanced.
• Delivery of street tree and park pruning works in accordance with maintenance specification requirements.
• To apply technical arboriculture knowledge in the resolution of daily tree maintenance issues as required.
• Undertake daily vehicle Inspections and record defects on maintenance checklists and report any mechanical defects to the immediate supervisor in a timely manner relevant to the scale of the defect and the priority of repair.
• To undertake the routine maintenance of Arboriculture equipment such as Elevating Work Platform vehicles, woodchippers, chainsaws, power pruners, handsaws and climbing equipment to ensure it is safe and fit for use.
• Carry out basic housekeeping duties to ensure work vehicles are kept in a clean and tidy state.
• Applying pesticides as required in accordance with the relevant Code of practice and label requirements.
• Too safely load, stow, and unload materials and equipment utilising correct manual handling principles as required.

To be successful, you will have:

• Experience as an Arborist, including tree assessments and risk identification.
• Strong written & verbal communication skills.
• Problem solving abilities.
• Relevant licenses including
• Working with Children’s Check
• National Police check (issued within the last 6 months)
