OHS & Facility Support Officer

  • Up to $ 51.54 per hour casual rate
  • Rostered on every Thursday & Friday (part time roster)
  • Thurs – Fri (7:30am – 4:00pm)
  • Training provided for the initial 3 weeks
  • Narre Warren location, state of the art facilities

The Role

The primary objectives of this role include but are not limited to:

  • Oversee the activities within the Works Centre yard facility.
  • Support the implementation of Occupational Health and Safety policies and procedures directly impacting the City Presentation Department

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receiving and dispatching of materials and goods within Works Centre.
  • Ensure all visitors and contractors to the Work Centre yard are inducted to site.
  • Loading and unloading of delivery vehicles by either forklift/loader or by hand.
  • Perform daily checks to plant assigned within their area of responsibility.
  • Ensure all work including the operation and maintenance of mobile plant and equipment is undertaken safely.
  • Support the implementation of OH&S procedure and provide direction on location of data
  • Maintain and develop Safe Work Method Statements and Material Safety Data Sheets.
  • Maintains a positive relationship with staff, contractors and the community.

Occupational Health & Safety Responsibilities

  • Take reasonable care for the health and safety of yourself and others in the workplace.
  • Ensure hazards, incidents, near misses and injuries are reported immediately.
  • Support activities taken by the organisation to comply with OH&S legislation.
  • Ensure only authorised, adequately trained staff undertake assigned tasks.
  • Develop new work procedures, as required, in consultation with relevant persons.
  • Actively participate in the planning and execution of return to work plans for employees.

Qualifications, Experience and Competencies

  • Relevant work experience; or qualifications with substantial experience.
  • Competency in the use of relevant technology, including computers/mobile devices.
  • Sound knowledge and practical application of OHS/WHS legislation, policies and procedures.
  • Current Australian Driver’s license.
  • License for the use of loaders and forklifts.
  • National Criminal History Check.
  • Working with Children Check.
  • Full working rights within Australia
