📍 Location: Marsden Depot Council Workshop & Field Service

🗓 Workweek: Monday to Thursday ⏰ Hours: 6:45am – 4:45pm

💰 Pay Rate: $50 per hour + super

📄 Employment Type: Casual initially, with strong potential to move to full-time

We’re looking for a qualified Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join our team!

This role involves servicing and repairing a diverse fleet of trucks, cars, heavy machinery, and minor plant items, with field service work included as required 🚚⚙️

🛠 About the Role

Your responsibilities will include:

• 🔩 Servicing, maintenance, and repair of engines, transmissions (manual & powershift), hydraulic, air, brake, steering, and electrical systems
• 🧠 Diagnostic work, fault finding, and troubleshooting on trucks and heavy plant
• 🔧 Minor body repairs including fabrication, welding, and spray painting
• 🛑 Conducting brake testing in accordance with Department of Transport authorisation
• 👷 Supervising apprentices and providing on-the-job training
• 📋 Completing and maintaining accurate service and maintenance records
• 🏗 Operating workshop equipment including lathes, surface planers, vertical drills, and MIG welders
• 🧹 Keeping your work area clean, safe, and tidy
• 📞 Participating in an after-hours on-call roster as required
• 🔄 Carrying out other duties within your skill level from time to time
• ⚠️ Health, Safety & Compliance Follow all workplace health and safety policies and procedures
• 🦺 Use appropriate PPE at all times
• Maintain a professional standard of dress and personal hygiene 🎓
• Attend required training (e.g. Traffic Controller, Confined Entry)
• 💉 Participate in Council vaccination programs
• ✏️ Successfully complete basic numeracy and literacy aptitude tests

👤 **About You**

You’ll bring:

✅ A recognised trade certificate as a Heavy Vehicle or Motor Mechanic

🚛 Strong diagnostic skills across trucks and heavy plant

📜 Post-trade or higher qualifications (highly regarded)

🏛 Knowledge of Council plant fleet operations (desirable)

A current White Construction Card

🚗 A current Class “C” driver’s licence (HR licence highly regarded)

🧪 Ability to pass a pre-employment functional assessment

💉 Undergo required immunisations Tetanus, Hepatitis A and Hepatitis B

🤝 A strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and quality workmanship
