We are seeking an experienced Civil Construction Labourer / Plant & Truck Operator to support the maintenance and construction of roads, drainage, and other civil infrastructure assets. You’ll play a key role in delivering safe, high-quality outcomes for the community.
Your duties will include, but are not limited to:
Operating ride-on equipment and light to medium mechanical plant
Driving and operating rigid trucks (GVM ≥ 22.5t) and truck & trailer combinations (GCM up to 42.5t)
Carrying out road, drainage, and civil construction works, including:
Earthworks
Concrete works
Pipe laying
Bitumen works
Vegetation works
Performing hands-on labouring duties across construction and maintenance projects
Completing daily plant inspections and pre-start checks
Working cooperatively with mechanical service teams for plant maintenance and repairs
Providing traffic management, including directing and controlling traffic around work sites
Delivering a high standard of customer service to internal and external stakeholders
Accurately completing timesheets and required documentation
Undertaking basic numerical calculations relevant to the role
Assisting with on-the-job training and sharing skills and knowledge with team members
Complying with Council policies, procedures, and legislative requirements
Working in line with environmental legislation and best practice procedures
Actively participating in training and skills development
Current White Card (General Construction Safety)
Current QLD C Class Manual Driver’s Licence
Current QLD HC Heavy Combination Licence
Certificates of competency to operate road construction plant, including:
Skid steer loader
Roller
Loader
Backhoe
Motor grader (>35kw)
Current Traffic Controller Ticket
Demonstrated experience driving trucks in varying road conditions
Proven experience operating road construction plant
Experience in road and drainage construction and maintenance
Experience in concrete works
Certificate III in Civil Construction
Strong plant and equipment operation skills
Competent truck driving skills
Good verbal and written communication skills
Manual handling capability
Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
Strong customer service skills
Preventative maintenance of machinery and equipment
Workplace Health & Safety regulations relevant to the construction industry
Road and drainage construction and maintenance practices
Operation and maintenance of mechanical plant and equipment
Ability to read, write, and perform basic numerical calculations relevant to the role
This role is casual ongoing, with work offered when available
Hours: Between Monday & Thursday, 6:00am – 3:00pm
Pay Rate: $38.33 per hour + Super
Employees must supply their own PPE, including:
Safety boots
Hi-vis vest
Long-sleeve shirt
Long pants
7cm brim sun hat
Employees must bring their own lunch and water, as work may be remote from shops or depot facilities
All required licences, tickets, and PPE must be presented prior to commencement
Completion of the contractor online induction is mandatory and must be evidenced before starting work
