Senior Waste & Recycling Contracts and Projects Officer

Our client, a local Queensland Council, is seeking a Contracts & Projects Officer to join a recycyling and waste management team in Logan to support Procurement/Logistics/Supply Chain operations. In this senior role, you will lead the development and procurement of local Council’s waste and recycling contracts while overseeing key projects that support sustainable outcomes for the community.

• $58.06 per hour + Super
• Full-time hours (Mon-Fri)
• 3-month assignment with possibility of extension
• Logan QLD 4118

This role involves:

• Leading the planning, procurement and supervision of service contracts
• Acting as operational contract representative and escalation point
• Providing specialist advice on contract management and government procurement matters
• Monitoring contractor performance and implementing resolution strategies
• Managing escalated service issues and customer enquiries, including site visits and inspections
• Preparing reports, briefing notes and submissions
• Building strong stakeholder relationships

The ideal candidate will have:

• Experience in Contract Management, Government Procurement and Operational Project Management
• A strong understanding of administration processes and high-level computer proficiency
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise competing demands
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
• High-level interpersonal and negotiation skills to manage contractors and resolve complex issues
• A sound understanding of local government policy, legislation and operational service delivery
• A relevant qualification in procurement, logistics, supply chain or a related field strongly desirable but not required
• A current C Class Driver’s Licence and willingness to meet Council’s vaccination requirements
