🐾 Animal Management Officer – Logan Local Government🐾
**Hours: Monday – Friday | 8:00am – 5:00pm
**Pay Rate: $42.96 per hour + super
**Role Type: Casual to start (with guaranteed full-time hours)

Logan Local Government is looking for a dedicated and confident Animal Management Officer to help keep both animals and the community safe. No two days are the same in this role — one minute you could be investigating a nuisance complaint, the next you’re safely capturing a wandering dog or helping resolve a neighbourhood animal dispute.
If you love animals but can also think like an investigator, communicate with empathy, and stay calm under pressure, this could be the perfect role for you.
🐶 What You’ll Be Doing
- * Investigating alleged breaches of the **Animal Management Local Law**, including:
- * Wandering animals
- * Excess animals
- * Enclosure issues
- * Animal nuisances
- * Dogs in off-leash parks not complying with rules
- * Cats and dogs in prohibited areas
- * Conducting proactive and reactive patrols and property inspections.
- * Responding to domestic animal attacks, wandering livestock and public safety concerns.
- * Capturing, containing and impounding animals safely and humanely.
- * Collecting animals that have been secured for pickup.
- * Conducting history checks on properties to identify previous non-compliance.
- * Gathering clear, factual and impartial evidence for investigations.
- * Interviewing witnesses and preparing cases for compliance actions.
- * Presenting evidence in court when required.
- * Managing sensitive situations including seizing animals where necessary, with professionalism and empathy.
- * Participating in emergency or after-hours response (on-call roster) when required.
🐕 What You’ll Bring
- * Strong animal handling experience with animals of all temperaments.
- * Ability to read and understand animal body language.
- * Excellent investigative and problem-solving skills
- * Strong oral communication and conflict resolution skills.
- * Confidence handling anxious, aggressive or frightened animals calmly and safely.
- * Ability to work in highly emotive or confrontational environments with professionalism.
- * Solid computer skills and ability to learn Council systems.
- * Knowledge of animal husbandry, disease prevention and animal control regulations.
- * Understanding of different breeds and animal behaviours (or willingness to learn quickly).
- * Experience conducting inspections, investigations and compliance activities
🎓 Highly Regarded
- Certificate IV in Animal Management** or similar qualification.
- Qualifications or training related to **animal welfare, compliance, investigations or livestock management**.
