Our client, a local QLD Council, is seeking a Land Use Investigation Officer to support compliance and enforcement of land use regulations within the community.
- $39 – $42.96 p.h + Super
- 8-month assignment with possibility of extension
- Full time hours (Mon-Fri)
- Logan, QLD 4114
This role involves:
- Investigating development offences and conducting site inspections and interviewing alleged offenders and witnesses
- Communicating with community members to provide updates and outcomes of investigations
- Drafting briefings and reports on compliance investigations for management and Councillors
- Liaising with owners, developers, contractors, builders, and town planners regarding land use
- Providing quality customer service in all dealings with community members
- Initiating enforcement actions including issuing show cause notices, enforcement notices, and infringement notices
- Undertaking any other duties reasonably within the employee's skills and training
The ideal candidate will have:
- Proven ability to conduct inspections and investigations on a community level, achieving effective outcomes within relevant legislation
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to handle sensitive situations professionally
- Strong organizational skill and attention to detail
- Ability to read/assess building and development plans.
- Proficiency in computer systems
- Willingness to participate in rostered after-hours on-call duties
- Moderate physical fitness to complete site inspections
- Formal qualifications in Built Environment (or similar); knowledge of Sustainable Planning Act 2009, Town Plan documents/policies is desirable but not essential
- Experience in development compliance or Town Planning is desirable but not essential
- Compliance with Council’s Staff Immunisation Program (vaccinations such as tetanus, hepatitis A and B)
- Current “C” Class driver’s licence
