Our client, a leading food manufacturing operation in Rockhampton, is currently seeking experienced and motivated Maintenance Fitters to join their maintenance team. This role is responsible for supporting day-to-day production requirements by ensuring the ongoing reliability, maintenance, and performance of plant equipment and processing facilities.
About the Role
As a Maintenance Fitter, you will be responsible for preventative and breakdown maintenance across production equipment and machinery to maximise equipment uptime and operational efficiency.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone with strong troubleshooting ability, mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to workplace safety and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Perform preventative and breakdown mechanical maintenance
Conduct equipment failure and root cause analysis
Troubleshoot and repair mechanical issues
Complete TIG, MIG, and Stick welding tasks
Perform Lockout/Tagout procedures
Recommend equipment upgrades and repairs
Support plant production requirements and maintenance activities
Adhere to strict OHS and Food Safety standards
Participate in safety initiatives and inspections
Promote safe work practices and compliance with site procedures
About You
Essential:
Cert III in Engineering (Mechanical) or Fitter qualification (dual trade highly regarded)
Experience in maintenance and repairs within a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and documents
Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
Experience using CMMS or maintenance planning systems
Ability to work safely both autonomously and within a team environment
Desirable:
Experience in food manufacturing environments
Continuous improvement experience
Pneumatic, hydraulic, and food processing machinery knowledge
Welding experience with stainless steel
Working Safely at Heights qualification
Low Voltage Rescue qualification
Standard Boiler Ticket
Roster & Allowances
This role operates on a rotating roster across weekdays and weekends, including:
Morning Shift: 6:00am – 2:30pm
Afternoon Shift: 2:00pm – 10:00pm
Night Shift: 10:00pm – 6:00am
Additional shift allowances apply:
Afternoon Shift Allowance: $16,000
Night Shift Allowance: $25,000
Weekend rosters may involve 42–44 hour shifts across Friday to Monday.
