Groundsperson

We are currently seeking two Casual Groundspersons - to join our team based in Lilydale. These positions will commence as soon as possible for an initial 6-week period, with the possibility of extension.

This is a great opportunity for candidates with lawn and garden maintenance experience who take pride in maintaining outdoor spaces to a high standard and who are committed to working safely, respectfully, and as part of a team.

About the role

As part of the Horticulture team, you will help maintain cemetery and memorial park grounds to presentation and operational standards, supporting an environment that enables families and visitors to connect with a strong sense of place.

Your duties will include:

• Lawn and garden maintenance to defined standards
• Weeding, pruning, digging, raking, mulching, and planting
• Spraying, hedging, edging, and blowing
• Reticulation and mowing in accordance with established programs
• Supporting broader operational activities as required and within your training and capability
• Assisting across different sites from time to time to support business continuity

What we're looking for

To be successful, you will ideally have:

• Demonstrated experience in a similar grounds maintenance, horticulture, landscaping, or outdoor maintenance role
• A strong commitment to occupational health and safety
• The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Good interpersonal and communication skills
• Attention to detail and the ability to complete tasks within agreed timeframes
• A flexible, proactive, and professional approach
• Respect for people from diverse cultural and religious backgrounds
• Integrity, discretion, and a responsible approach to work
• A current driver's licence mandatory

Physical requirements

This role is hands-on and physical in nature. It requires regular outdoor work and includes activities such as:

• Walking and working on uneven ground
• Repetitive bending, reaching, gripping, kneeling, and squatting
• Carrying out manual tasks and using horticultural equipment
• Driving between locations where required

Candidates must be comfortable performing physically demanding duties safely and consistently.

• $49.07 per hour inclusive of casual loading
• Monday to Friday, 7:00am - 4:00pm
• Lilydale-based role
