AO4 Business Assurance Officer | State Government

Immediate Start | Brisbane CBD | $60.05 per hour + super | Contract: 14 September - 19 October 2026

We’re partnering with a Queensland Government department to recruit an experienced AO4 Business Assurance Officer to join their Business Assurance team.

This role will suit someone with experience across business assurance, compliance, governance, quality or process improvement who is confident reviewing how processes are operating, identifying gaps and helping implement practical improvements.

You’ll be joining a supportive team in a new CBD office, working across a varied portfolio with exposure to stakeholders and operations across Queensland.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct business assurance reviews to assess process compliance, performance, reporting reliability and control effectiveness
  • Prepare clear reports outlining findings, recommendations and management actions
  • Support the management of statewide complaints and compliments
  • Identify opportunities to improve policies, processes and procedures
  • Provide advice and guidance on quality management and assurance practices
  • Prepare monthly management reporting and assist with relevant meetings
  • Review trends, identify recurring issues and support preventative improvements
  • Communicate process and system changes clearly to stakeholders
  • Build productive relationships across internal teams and external service providers


About You

To be successful, you’ll bring:

  • Demonstrated experience in business assurance, audit, compliance, governance, quality or process review
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify risks, process gaps and improvement opportunities
  • Experience preparing professional reports, findings and recommendations
  • The ability to understand how systems, processes and end-user operations interact
  • Strong written communication and documentation skills
  • Confidence working with and providing guidance to a range of stakeholders
  • The ability to quickly learn new systems, policies and processes
  • Advanced Microsoft Word and Excel skills
  • Previous government experience will be highly regarded
