  • Senior Finance Officer

    Eight Mile Plains, Brisbane | $100,000–$110,000 + super | Permanent Full-Time

Ready to take the next step in your finance career?

We're partnering with an established Australian business to recruit an experienced Senior Finance Officer to join its team in Eight Mile Plains.

This is an excellent opportunity for a capable finance professional who enjoys taking ownership, supporting others and having a real impact on how a finance function operates.

Working closely with the CFO, you'll play a key role in managing the day-to-day financial operations of the business, overseeing core accounting processes and supporting the development of the finance team.

The business is looking for someone who can become a trusted member of the leadership team, bringing strong technical accounting knowledge, sound judgement and a collaborative approach.

    What's on offer?

    • $100,000–$110,000 + super, with some flexibility for the right person

    • Permanent, full-time opportunity in Eight Mile Plains

    • Work directly with an experienced CFO

    • Opportunity to mentor and support junior finance staff

    • Broad exposure across financial reporting, commercial operations and business performance

    • Genuine opportunity to take ownership and develop your leadership capabilities

    • Established business with a diverse range of financial operations

What will you be responsible for?

You'll work closely with the CFO to ensure the finance function operates accurately, efficiently and consistently.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    • Managing month-end processes, journals and balance sheet reconciliations

    • Preparing cash flow reports, financial analysis and regular management reporting

    • Supporting annual budgets, quarterly forecasts and financial modelling

    • Overseeing Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable operations

    • Providing guidance, training and support to junior finance team members

    • Working with operational teams on inventory reconciliations, valuations and adjustments

    • Maintaining financial controls and ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures

    • Investigating discrepancies and resolving financial or operational issues

    • Identifying opportunities to improve reporting, processes and overall efficiency

    • Acting as a trusted point of contact for finance-related matters and supporting the CFO with broader business priorities

This is a hands-on position, so you'll need to be equally comfortable preparing reconciliations, supporting your team and discussing financial performance with senior stakeholders.

    What we're looking for

We're looking for someone with strong technical accounting experience who's ready to take on greater responsibility within a commercial finance environment.

    Ideally, you'll bring:

    • Demonstrated experience in a Senior Accountant, Senior Finance Officer, Assistant Finance Manager or similar position

    • Strong month-end accounting and balance sheet reconciliation experience

    • Sound understanding of AP, AR, cash flow and financial controls

    • Experience supporting budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting

    • Advanced Excel skills and confidence working across accounting systems

    • Strong analytical skills and the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies

    • Experience mentoring, training or supervising finance team members

    • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with stakeholders across different departments

Experience with inventory accounting or working within a multi-entity business would be highly regarded.

    The person we're looking for

Beyond technical capability, we're looking for someone who takes pride in their work and genuinely enjoys being part of a team.

You'll be approachable, organised and comfortable taking responsibility for your work. You'll know how to provide constructive feedback, support colleagues and maintain high standards without losing sight of the bigger picture.

Importantly, you'll be someone who takes the time to understand existing systems and processes before recommending improvements.

You'll have the confidence to make decisions, ask questions when needed and build a strong working relationship with the CFO.

    Why this opportunity?

For the right person, this is an opportunity to develop into a broader finance leadership role.

You'll work closely with the CFO, gain exposure to different areas of the business and gradually take greater ownership of the finance team's daily operations.

If you're an experienced finance professional looking for a role where you can contribute, develop others and continue building your career, we'd love to hear from you.
